T'WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS - EVERYDAY!by Judith A. BrumbaughReturn to Home Page Return to Topic Christmas has quickly come and gone. One thing the LORD really impressed upon me was that this man-made celebration, which we call CHRISTmas, should be within our heart every day of the year. As I was thinking on this, I walked out of my garage and noticed a beautiful large poinsettia which has been been there for many years, giving a special blessing at Christmas time when its leaves turn from green to red. Looking at the leaves - most of them now red, I thought about the miracle of this plant’s changing of colors and the timing of its transformation at this time of the year that has been chosen to celebrate our Saviour’s birthday. As you ponder this miracle, think about the words in the poem written below, and examine for yourself if, even tonight, you might fall into the category of one who was too busy today, yesterday or most days, to spend time with the LORD. Don’t wait until you cannot build a relationship with Jesus Christ. Many feel they are too busy now, but guess what, we will most likely be thinking the same way a year from now. It's a matter of personal choice.
Pray about setting some new goals to read and study the Bible every day. If you are not accustomed to doing this, start with a few minutes - perhaps five minutes each day, and increase the time at the beginning of each month by five minutes each day. See our Bible Reading Guide to help you establish a daily reading routine.
Consider the importance of this wonderful decision to study the Bible as you read about the symbolism in a box of crayons, as recorded through the lyrics from a song sung by a church member during a recent church service. Some of the words are written below: The song spoke of a little boy whose mother bought a box of crayons - just for him. As he looked at the colors, they reminded him of Jesus when he died: Red is for the color of the blood that Jesus shed for us. Brown is for the crown of thorns they put upon His head. Blue is for the royal robe they, in mockery, placed upon His badly mutilated body. Yellow, he sang, is for the Christian who’s afraid to tell of Jesus - this Saviour who died on Calvary for you and me!
RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST NOW!
